Sendhoor Restaurant: menu design for an Indian multi-cuisine restaurant
Hotkhana Media designed the menu for Sendhoor Restaurant, an Indian multi-cuisine restaurant that leads with South Indian food. The square-format menu sets a full-page food photograph beside each menu page, covering biryanis, South Indian meals, tandoor and tawa dishes, curries and breads, Chinese, desserts and drinks.

The brief
Sendhoor's kitchen runs from South Indian classics to North Indian curries, tandoor and Indo-Chinese. The menu had to keep the restaurant's South Indian identity up front while letting guests find any of those cuisines in a few seconds.
Our approach
South Indian first
The cover promises authentic South Indian cuisine, and the first menu page delivers it: biryanis, lunchtime meals served on banana leaf and a Southern Delights section of local favourites come before any other cuisine.
A photograph for every spread
Each menu page faces a full-page photograph of a dish from it: chicken biryani in a clay handi beside the biryanis, chilli paneer beside the Chinese page, fresh juices beside the drinks. Guests see the food before they read the list.
Dark, spiced and appetising
Black stone backgrounds, scattered whole spices and moody lighting make the colour of the food the brightest thing on every page. Bold yellow headings make each section easy to spot from across the table.
Lists that scan quickly
Every section opens with a short italic introduction, then item names in capitals run to their prices along dotted leaders. Half and full portions share one line, and the Chinese soups list veg and non-veg prices side by side.
